Reverend Dr. Amos W. Williams, Jr. ~ Pastor
Identifiable characteristics of a pastor are an empathetic nature, knowledgeable, caring and loving. Dr. Amos Williams Jr. evidences all these qualities. He is a native of Amite, Louisiana. He has been married to Diana B. Williams for 39 years. God has blessed them with two children and three grand-children. He completed Amite High school in 1973. Minister Carlton Alexander
Minister Carlton Alexander, a retired Veteran, hails from Ann Harbor Michigan. It was his military career which brought him to Georgia. He was raised by two supportive parents and brought up in the church. Minister Alexander felt the Lord’s hand on his life from the early age of 12 but was not officially called to preach until 1990. His mother’s teaching and words had a tremendous impact on his life. Most memorable were her pearls of wisdom, “You can’t get into heaven by being a good person. You must have a relationship with God.” His relationship with God was heighted while in the military and further cultivated at Beulah Heights University in Atlanta. Well versed in God’s word, Minister Alexander sees his biggest calling as being a support to others and operating behind the scenes in whatever endeavor God directs him to do. Ironically, Minister Alexander is in the car detailing business, but recognizes his mission as a “detailer of people” for the Lord. Amen!
Minister John Garrett
“Through it all, Through it all. I’ve learned to depend upon His Word…” these familiar words of this spiritual song are very familiar to Minister John Garret. His faith and history with Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church (LHMBC) has been longstanding. Born here in Marietta, Minister Garret recalls attending LHMBC alongside his father and coming to know the Lord during a revival here. He was baptized in the creek on the Church’s property and when the office of Pastor was vacant at LHMBC, Minister Garret was there to fill in the gap. In his early career, he entered the Army as a Medical Specialist and later worked at an in-town window factory. Although retired, he and his beautiful wife, Dorothy Ann Garret for 56 years have been faithful members of LHMBC. His passion for God’s word has lead him to lead many to the Lord over the span of his 25 years of being a minister. Yes…, his indelible spirit has inspired many. “Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God. The words of this song embody the spirit of our very own Minister John Garret. LHMBC is honored to have this fisher of men apart of our church body.
Minister Rick Griffin
Minister Griffin’s calling is to preach and teach sound biblical doctrine that edifies and encourages the body of Christ. To serve in the kingdom of Christ by teaching the fundamental truths and principles of God’s Word, equipping the saints to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, to love Him, to live for Him, and to serve Him. It is in fulfilling this purpose that he finds his greatest joy and satisfaction. He was born and raised in Norristown, PA and lived there for the 35 years before moving to the suburbs of Atlanta, GA where he has live for over twenty years. He is the husband of Shelia Griffin. He is the eldest of eight siblings, the father of four children, and the grandfather of five grandchildren. His favorite pastimes are spending quality time with his family, reading (especially the bible), writing, and designing and developing software applications.
Evangelist Patricia Kemp
Evangelist Patricia Kemp attended Stewart Middle and Douglas County High Schools. After graduating from High School in 1979 she attended Pain College in Augusta Georgia for 2 years, there she studied Liberal Arts. In 1981 she attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Gwinnett County. She received an Associate and Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Programming in 1984. In 1988 she married her high school sweet heart, Deacon Reginald Kemp. To their union they have 3 loving children, Ashley, Kristina and R.J. and an amazing son and daughter-in law, C.J. and Timeka and three wonderful grandsons, Jailyn, Caleb and Christian. She has been employed with Social Security Administration for 27 years. Under the careful guidance of the Holy Spirit, Minister Kemp became a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church (LHMBC) with her husband in 1992. Her ministerial education stems from Liberty Church Bible College. Here at LHMBC, Evangelist Kemp remains a faithful servant in the ministry. She has served in many capacities and been an essential component to the inner workings of the church. She has served as teacher, financial secretary, youth director, program coordinator, member of the hospitality committee, choir, and praise team.
Minister Lewis Williams
“Superfantastic” is a coined expression of Minister Lewis Williams and describes his charisma when speaking of our Lord Jesus Christ. Minister Williams came to now the Lord at the age of nine. He recalled that his relationship with the Lord was spurred by the fear of not going to heaven. “My salvation comes with yielding and obeying. With fear and trembling, I have to make it into the kingdom.” Minister Williams, a preacher’s kid, was brought up in a Detroit church. He is the husband of Shirley “Doll Baby” Williams. Their 33-year union has produced two children and one grandchild. He has been an ordained minister for more than 20 years. He is retired from Ford Motor Company and Delta Airlines.
In sharing God’s goodness, Minister Williams recounted how his life was saved. He indicated that tired from full time job and school work, he was driving home and fell asleep at the wheel. He ran a stop sign and was T-boned. When brought back to a conscience state, all those around the mangled car and shattered glass, marveled that he was still alive. Joyously he thanked God for he knew it was only the Lord that saved him. “I know that I am a dead man walking.” No wonder Minister Williams meditates on Revelation 3:20. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
